Shannon Elder is a freelance event producer, arts and culture curator, and interdisciplinary artist based in Austin, Texas. Working across collage, writing, and live experiences, her practice explores storytelling, memory, and community. Whether creating artwork or producing public programs, she is interested in how people connect to one another through shared narratives and cultural experiences. Her work spans visual art exhibitions, live music events, cultural festivals, public programming, and brand activations, bringing together artists, organizations, and audiences through thoughtfully designed experiences.
As the founder and Executive Producer of PietschHouse, a creative event production company, Shannon develops and produces events that support Austin’s creative ecosystem by ensuring artists are seen, compensated, and connected in community.
Alongside her production work, Shannon maintains an active artistic practice centered on collage and non-fiction writing. Drawing from vintage publications, found imagery, and collected ephemera her work investigates memory, perception, and transition.
Her curatorial and production projects include Local Imprints: Stories of Place and People for the Downtown Austin Alliance, Liz Moskowitz’s large-format photography exhibition A Path of Impermanence for Future Front Texas, and numerous photography exhibitions, workshops, and cultural programs presented in collaboration with artists, nonprofits, universities, and community organizations. Previously, she served as Curator for Future Front Texas and Exhibition Coordinator for The Gallery ATX. She also spent several years as Managing Photography Editor at Native Agency, where she oversaw global documentary photography projects and helped develop work that later appeared in publications including The New York Times, NPR, and WIRED.
Shannon holds a B.A. from Columbia College Chicago with a focus in Cultural Studies and Creative Nonfiction Writing. She is a recipient of the Migration Narratives Grant from the Institute for Diversity and Civic Life and the Henry Luce Foundation (2021), and was selected for the Château d'Orquevaux Artists & Writers Residency in France (2026).
